Lollipopping
Lollipopping is a technique used in cannabis cultivation to improve air circulation and light penetration, reducing the risk of pests and diseases, and increasing the plant's overall yield and quality by focusing its energy on the top buds. It involves the removal of the lower branches and leaves that receive less light, which allows the plant to focus its energy on the upper canopy where the buds are developing.
Lollipopping is best done before switch to the flowering stage, as it allows the plant to focus its energy on the remaining branches and buds.
To lollipop a plant, follow these steps:
Tools: You will need a pair of clean, sharp pruning shears or scissors to avoid damaging the plant.
Remove any small, weak branches that are unlikely to develop into quality buds. Keeping 8-12 robust branches is ideal for the abby grow box and can result in high-quality buds and yields.
Remove the leaves and branches that are under the 4th node of each robust branch that receive the least amount of light.
Once you have completed lollipopping and obtained 8-12 robust branches, the plant is ready for the flowering stage.
