What is Root Rot?
Cannabis root rot is a common plant disease that affects the root system of cannabis plants, leading to stunted growth, nutrient deficiencies, and ultimately plant death if left untreated. It is caused by a variety of pathogens, including fungi and water molds, which thrive in oxygen-deprived, damp conditions. The symptoms of root rot include yellowing leaves, wilting, and slimy, discolored roots.

Signs of root rot
Brown and Slimy roots – roots that feel slimy are the best indicator of root issues.
Leaves curling/droopy – looking like an overwatered soil plant.
Musky smell – if the water reservoir has a moldy, cellar-like smell this can be an early indicator of root rot. Do a water change and reservoir change immediately
Stress signs – yellow leaves and purple buds.
Rust Spots – rust coloured spots on the leaves.
How to Fix Root Rot
Cut off slimy/dead roots – if the roots are barely hanging onto the plant and can be pulled off get rid of them. These roots provide food for the bacteria and should be removed.
Rinse roots with 1 part of 3% h2o2, 3 parts of water.
Perform a full water change - Perform a full water change and sterilize(diluted Clorox) your tank before putting the clean roots back in the reservoir.
Add 1/3 tsp ( 1.5 ml) of 35% hydrogen peroxide to 3 gal of water.
Add beneficial bacteria to the nutrient solution a day after adding h2o2. (hydro guard)
Heisenberg tea is really useful for rooting.
